November Presentation and Meeting
November 27, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
FreePresenter: John Fabiano
Topic: “Up Goes Huddy: Captain Joshua Huddy’s Untimely Execution.”
Joshua Huddy was reputed to be the Loyalist’s worst enemy during the American Revolutionary War. In 1782, during a skirmish while defending the naval base and saltworks at Toms River, Huddy was taken to New York and executed by the Board of Associated Loyalists on the banks of the Raritan Bay. This execution threatened the Paris Peace Treaty which was being negotiated at the time.
Recently retired as Executive Director of the Monmouth County Historical Commission and past President of the former Allentown-Upper Freehold Historical Society, John Fabiano will present “Up Goes Huddy: Captain Joshua Huddy’s Untimely Execution.” John’s interest in the Revolutionary War began with his participation in the 225th anniversary of the Battle of Monmouth celebration in 2003, known as the “Road to Monmouth.” Motivated by the possibility that Molly Pitcher may have been from his adopted hometown of Allentown N.J., he pursued a Master’s Degree in Public History from Rutgers-Camden and graduated in 2007.
This is a free event and all are welcome to attend.
