Following the deaths of Lester Stillwell and Stanley Fisher, Matawan citizens made an all-out effort to hunt and kill the shark(s) in Matawan Creek.  This included using nets and dynamite.  The photos shown here, recently acquired by the Matawan Historical Society, were taken in the days following the attacks in July 1916.

No sharks were ever captured or killed in the Creek.
