The Longstreet/Lloyd House
This house was owned by D. S. Stillwell between 1850-1870.
Aaron Longstreet moved to this address in 1873. Longstreet previously owned the house at 80 Main street. This house is similar to houses built in Colts Neck at the same time.
Van Winkle Todd took up residence here. He was a WWI fighter pilot and President of Hanson-Van Winkle-Munning Company. He lived here from 1928 to about 1963.
More recently this house was the residence of the late F. Howard Lloyd, Jr. Mr. Lloyd was a beloved English teacher at the Matawan High School, instructing students for a remarkable 62 years. He celebrated his 100th birthday in November 2019 and sadly passed away in April 2020.
Item of interest: In the attic is a “whole house” fan made from an airplane propeller.
