110th Anniversary Shark Attack Commemoration Tours

July 12 @ 11:00 am - 4:30 pm

110 years ago, the quiet town of Matawan, NJ became the site of one of the most dramatic shark attacks in American history — a story so compelling it helped inspire the movie “Jaws.”

Join the Matawan Historical Society on July 12, 2026 for our 110th Anniversary Commemoration Tours: a guided bus + walking tour through the actual sites of the 1916 attacks, followed by a special Bridge Dedication Ceremony naming the causeway at Aberdeen Road & Matawan Avenue the Fisher Stillwell Memorial Bridge — in permanent honor of victims Stanley Fisher and Lester Stillwell.
